Mindfulness, Boundaries, and the Practice of Empathy
Participants will gain a conceptual framework for:

  • the differences between secondary trauma, compassion fatigue, and burnout
  • ways we develop secondary trauma, compassion fatigue, and burnout—and how to recover
  • the relationship between mindfulness, boundaries, empathy, and resilience
  • Participants will walk away with protective strategies
  • Mindfulness practices
  • Tools to reinforce intra-personal boundaries
  • Rapid Resets to use when triggered in the moment
  • Practicing empathy as a skill (vs. feeling) to protect your emotional reserves
  • Rituals of Release for personal vitality

Trainer Bio: Ricki Moran is the Assistant Director of Field Education and an Assistant Professor in the Masters of Social Work program at Park University.  Ricki is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Certified Play Therapist, and certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).  Ricki got her Bachelor’s in Social Work from Park University and Masters in Social Work from UMKC.  She is currently working on her Doctorate in Social Work from the University of St. Thomas. 

Her specialty areas are promoting self-care practices, working with kids who have experienced trauma, and Child-Centered Play Therapy.  Ricki has trained and presented on topics of self-care, emotional and physical safety, suicide prevention, and compassion without fatigue.

Cancellations and Substitutions: 
If you register and do not cancel by Tuesday, Feb. 25 and/or fail to attend you will be charged in full. Cancellations prior to the deadline above will be a charged a $25 service fee. Substitutions may be accepted on a case-by-case basis.
